Our History

Incorporated in 1956, the City of Southlake has deep roots, dating back to the mid-1800s. The first settlers arrived in 1845 in what is now known as Southlake. The first Chief of Police for the City of Southlake was hired in 1966, and the City purchased its first patrol car in 1967.

The City of Southlake continues to grow and thrive with more than 30,800 residents. The police department also continues to grow to meet the needs of its citizens and visitors to Southlake. The Police Department currently employees 73 sworn and civilian employees including; a police chief, assistant police chief, three Lieutenants nine sergeants, six corporals and numerous support staff.
